Houthi fire kills soldier
(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: Coalition forces launched three airstrikes on Houthi targets on Wednesday in Yemen's city of Ibb while Saudi artillery shelled enemy positions on the border in Jazan region.
The operations by the Saudi-led forces were in response to rocket fire by the Houthis on farming areas in Jazan on Wednesday.
At dawn on Wednesday Border Guard soldier Pvt. Ali Sumaily was killed in Abu Radif in southern Jazan during an encounter with the Houthis. In the skirmish the rebels suffered heavy losses and were driven from the border region.
The coalition's jets launched a series of attacks on Houthi weapons depots and their gatherings in Sanaa Emran and Saadah airport. The coalition bombing was so heavy that Sanaa city trembled an eyewitness said.
The coalition forces also struck the 15th Regiment of the Houthis in Zenjibar province in Abin Governorate.
The Popular Resistance forces also made considerable gains in the fight against the militias and men loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh in the city of Dalae in south Yemen.
According to eyewitness reports resistance fighters killed 13 Houthis in Taaz and also made considerable gains in Al-Qaeda city of Ibb.
Resistance forces fought and repelled Republican Guards in Loader City and laid siege to Jouf city after driving them out of Abtar and Ajasher which are close to Saadah in the heartland of the rebels.
