Criticizing Modi

(MENAFN- Arab News) I read with interest the article 'One year of disappointments' (May 20) by Shashi Tharoor. Many BJP or Modi enthusiasts may reject the writer's views just because he belongs to the proverbial archrival of the BJP. However I believe that it was a balanced article and the writer has commented on issues which are already part of the public domain. He did not accuse Modi or his party members of anything new. We cannot deny that Modi is all talk. His may be a great crowd puller but when it comes to concrete actions he is far from his much-trumpeted image.

Indians should change the way they deal with politics and politicians. They should focus more on issues and politicians' past performances. As long as we allow certain elements to use communal and caste card India would never be able to realize its true potential.

Many people say that Modi is sometimes being unnecessarily criticized for statements issued by others. They should realize that Modi is the leader of those politicians who don't think twice before spitting venom against different communities living in India. Being the leader of the party ruling the country Modi has the responsibility of putting an end to such silly things. Rashid Qazi Dammam
