Cultural development must for economic growth


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Abu Dhabi's economy is growing at a very sustainable rate and in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Culture Youth and Community Development has said that sustainable long-term development is only possible if culture and heritage is properly respected.

“Cultural development and its success are the main requirement for achieving economic goals and sustainable growth” Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said in his keynote speech on the theme of ‘leadership and its impact on driving the Al Gharbia economy’ at the one-day Al Gharbia Development Forum.

The minister said: “The UAE aims to optimise the use of resources and make proper use of its human resources whilst preserving its culture and heritage and being open to the whole world. We have become a bridge of cultures and a place where civilizations interact.”

“It is clear that our leaders see culture as a comprehensive concept and that empowering our people is the main pillar of our work” Shaikh Nahyan said. “The success of economic development in Al Gharbia mainly requires a cultural environment that supports those developmental efforts and involves people who understand the purpose of this programme.”

He appreciated the UAE leadership for laying out a futuristic development strategy for the Al Gharbia region which is known for its hydrocarbon wealth. The strategy will boost Abu Dhabi’s industrial capabilities by utilising its resources.

Abu Dhabi’s economy is growing at a very sustainable rate he said and in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 there has been progress on developing a knowledge-based economy. The leadership has given its top priority to providing its people with the best education healthcare facilities and made heavy investments into the development of Emirati human resources a strategy which has been very successful as it has created young cadres who would take the nation to new heights he said.
