(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Five people were killed and 16 others were injured Wednesday in several explosions that hit the Iraqi capital, a police source said.
"Two people were killed and nine others were wounded when an improvised explosive device [IED] went off in a local restaurant in al-Huseiniya area in northern Baghdad," a police captain told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.
One person was killed and seven others were wounded in another IED attack near a local market in al-Rashid area in southern Baghdad.
Unknown assailants opened fire on a civilian's car in a drive-by attack that left him dead in eastern Baghdad, police said.
Meanwhile, investigators found a police officer's body in al-Huseiniya area in northern Baghdad.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi had lifted Baghdad's eight-year curfew on Feb. 7, citing "improved security conditions."
