UAE- ADEC interviews 1240 candidates for teaching and support positions in public schools


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, has begun interviewing 1,240 candidates, including 655 Emiratis and 585 candidates from Arab nationalities, for filling teaching and support positions across public schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for the 2015/2016 Academic School Year.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC's Executive Director of School Operations, said that ADEC is keen to recruit qualified educators to work in schools. Some new positions have been introduced within the new school structure to provide school leadership with more support in operating their schools easily.

"ADEC seeks to provide teachers with an attractive learning environment and professional development programmes that allow them to develop their professional skills and better serve students and the community," said Al Dhaheri, adding that the positions required for the new school year include kindergarten teachers, Islamic studies, Arabic, science, maths, English, general science, social studies, history, civics, geography, physiology, physics, biology, chemistry, geology, social workers, laboratory technicians, LRC Specialists, psychologists, special education, physical education, art, music, and ICT.

In addition, support positions are also required to include SEN classroom assistants, registrars, admin assistants (coordinators), facilities officers, and career guidance counsellors.

As for teaching positions, candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree with a major in the required teaching subject. Candidates must have IELTS Academic with 6.5 score for EMT Majal 2 (science and math) and general science and math; with 5.5 score for ICT; and 4.5 for LRC specialists. In addition, LRC specialists must have a major in Majal 1, Arabic, English, GIS, or ICT. Preference will be given to candidates with IELTS, higher qualifications, ICDL and is based on availability of vacancies.

As for support positions, SEN classroom assistants must have a Diploma level qualification in education or special education, or secondary school certificate plus a two-year training programme in SEN education or two-year experience in SEN education after graduation from high school.

Candidates must also be fluent in the English language, and those holding English certificates are preferred. They must have ICT skills, and those holding ICT certificates are preferred.

A registrar must have a Diploma level qualification in business or ICT. Candidates must have English skills, and those holding English certificates are preferred. Candidates must have ICT skills, and those holding ICT certificates are preferred.

A school business coordinator must have a Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance or human resources. Candidates must have English skills, and those with English training course/programme certificates are preferred. Candidates must have ICT skills, and those holding ICT certificates are preferred.

A facilities coordinator must have a Diploma level qualification in facilities services or health and safety or equivalent. Candidates must have English skills, and those holding English training course/programme certificates are preferred. Candidates must have ICT skills, and those holding ICT certificates are preferred.

An academic and career guidance counselour must have a Bachelor's Degree in career education/ counseling, social work or equivalent. Candidates must have English skills, and those holding English training course/programme certificates are preferred. Candidates must have ICT skills, and those holding ICT certificates are preferred.
