Kuwaitis free to move in Malaysia with passport copy

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwaiti authorities have agreed with the Malaysian immigration department to allow Kuwaiti citizens move freely in the nation carrying only a copy of their passport, accredited by the Kuwaiti embassy.

The measure is intended to help the visiting citizens to spare themselves hardship of losing their passports during their movement or as a result of robbery, the ambassador, Saad Al-Asou'si, told KUNA.

The ambassador spoke to KUNA after holding talks with interior ministry officials, dealing with various problems that often face the Kuwaitis. During the meeting, the Malaysian officials re-affirmed that passports in possession of the Kuwaitis should be valid for at least six months.

The two sides agreed that Kuwaitis who face such problems report to a police station, located near the embassy in the capital.

The meeting was held in preparation for the summer tourism season, during which many Kuwaitis favor the Malaysian destinations for recreational times.
