Tunisia's economy slows to 1.7 percent

(MENAFN) The economic growth of Tunisia decelerated down to 1.7 percent in the first quarter of the year, driven by slumping industries, according to the state statistics institute, Reuters reported.

However, in comparison to this year, Tunisia's economy witnessed an expansion by 2.4 percent in the first quarter of 2014, in addition to a further 2.3 percent growth recorded in the fourth quarter

A slump of about 3.7 percent in the North African country's industrial operations contributed to the fallback, the statistics agency added.
