(MENAFN- QNA) Under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir and Chairman of Board of Regents at Qatar University Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the graduation ceremony of batch 2015 of Qatar University's male students at Qatar National Conventions Centre on Wednesday morning.
The ceremony was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, the faculty and administrative members at the university and students' parents.
The ceremony began with recitation of verses of Holy Quran and a documentary film on Qatar University (QU) achievements.
Addressing the attendees, Qatar University President Dr. Sheikha bint Abdulla Al Misnad said that the QU has achieved many successes at the level of expansion of academic programs and at the level of research activity that has achieved one of the highest growth rates in the region and which its priorities were crystallized to pour in national priorities in the fields of sustainability, health, information technology and social sciences which in turn focus on the national identity and Modern Islamic Discourse, pointing out that the university has also achieved a quantum leap in terms of infrastructure and service that create for the student an conducive environment for learning and creativity.
Dr. Al Misnad praised the support provided by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani for the University, noting that without this support, the university would not become what it is today.
She underlined that the strategic priorities now stationed around four axes, which are promoting university student's experience, promoting distinguished scientific production, raising the level of institutional effectiveness and building international academic reputation, adding that all these priorities require independence in setting academic standards and organized institutional action.
She pointed out that the most important strategic developments that the university has recently witnessed is to establish a National College of Medicine, which saw the light thanks to the initiative of HH the Emir and this initiative indicates HH's deep and wise insight to the state's present and future needs of high qualified national cadres in the medical field.
Ahmed Yousef Alfaredoni delivered a speech in behalf of QU graduates on the occasion, said "it is a great honor and pleasure to address this great occasion on behalf of my fellow graduates." HH the Deputy Emir and Chairman of Board of Regents at Qatar University Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani presented 33 outstanding students with the graduation certificates.
HE Dr. Sheikha bint Abdullah Al Misnad, QU President had distributed the certificates to the graduates.
