Malaysia, Indonesia to allow 7,000 migrants to land


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Malaysia and Indonesia on
Wednesday agreed to let thousands of Rohingya and Bangladeshi
migrants stuck at sea come ashore and temporarily stay in their
territory dpa reported.

'Indonesia and Malaysia agreed to continue to provide humanitarian
assistance to those 7,000 irregular migrants still at sea,' Foreign
Minister Anifah Amas said.

'We also agreed to offer them temporary shelter provided that the
resettlement and repatriation process will be done in one year by the
international community,' he added

Anifah added that Indonesia and Malaysia will not actively search for
migrants in the sea, but will only provide assistance to those who
come to their shores.
