JAKARTA May 19 2015—Social Security Agency (BPJS) Health sent written warning to 122 companies in the country because they have not registered their employees in national health insurance program until the specified deadline on January 1.

Those companies are considered violating Presidential Decree No. 111/2013 on Health Insurance. Based on this decree companies with large medium and small businesses along with state companies and local companies must register their employees to BPJS Health before January 1 2015.

The sanction is given to the companies in all areas that have been randomly examined by BPJS Health as of January 1 or the deadline period. It is a concrete proof of law enforcement in the program.

“According to the existing phases we give a sanction in the form of written warning first. This is given based on random process of examination” said BPJS’ Health Director of Law Communications and Inter-agency Relationship Purnawarman Basundoro to Indonesia Business Daily Friday (5/8).

Under Government Regulation No. 86/2013 concerning Imposition of Administrative Sanction to Employer the sanction is given starting from a written warning up to three times imposition of fine and sanction in the form of elimination of public services to companies.

In this case he added BPJS Health has been working with the public service providers to apply the sanction to companies that have not registered their employees in the program.

In order to further enforce the level of corporate discipline BPJS Health also requires companies to include proof of registration in JKN program while taking care of the licensing process.

“This is the way to make employers adhere to the regulation. Thus membership in BPJS Health becomes a requirement in the corporate licensing process” said Purnawarman. Read more..
