UAE volunteers continue relief efforts in Nepal


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) UAE youths continue to serve the community by providing humanitarian aid in Nepal under the UAE Ambassadors for Community Volunteering initiative, which aims to attract young Emiratis to become representatives in different countries around the world to organise various educational, cultural, sports and social events programme.

Moza Al Otaiba, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said that UAE volunteers, in coordination with the official channels, have contributed to alleviating the suffering of children in Nepal by organising entertainment programmes and a variety of activities for those affected by the earthquake which killed more than 8,000 people.

Al Otaiba also said that the UAE volunteer programme aims to attract and train young people on voluntary and humanitarian work in various fields, including health, educational, and environmental, both locally and internationally in coordination with concerned parties, and through a partnership with the world's leading volunteer centres.

She added that for the Zayed Giving initiative, voluntary work is of paramount importance and is always looking to adopt innovative ideas for voluntary initiatives which have so far launched many campaigns, including the One Million Volunteers campaign, Emirates Award for Voluntary Work, and the Arab Academy for Volunteering.
