Kuwait- Steep Fines Set For Sheltering Illegals

(MENAFN- Arab Times) A high-level security source said the General Department for Residence Affairs is nearing completion of a study that will be submitted to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to punish those who knowingly shelter violators of residence law, reports Al- Anba daily.

According to the study, a fine of between KD 1,000 and KD 1,500 will be imposed on those who willfully harbor residence law violators including domestic workers and people who come to the country on visit visas and work in the private sector.

The department noted some citizens bring in their Arab relatives and leave them inside the country in violation of the law, which increased the number of violators. The sources pointed out latest statistics issued by the department show 143,000 people violate the law.
