Qatar- Record turnout at GMC Triathlon Series

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A record number of participants braved windy conditions to take part in the final race of the GMC Triathlon Series at Aspire Zone.

More than 220 participants registered for the event. Race Director Ewan Cameron said: "We are pleased with the turnout and have record participation figures for every race this season, with double the registrants of the previous season. This could not have been possible without the active involvement of the Doha TriClub and its members as well as the excellent support provided by Aspire Zone and its various officials."

Ivor D'Cunha, General Manager (Operations), Mannai Auto Group, added: "Mannai Auto through GMC is honored to be supporting such an important event that fuels the country's overall sporting ambitions and creates a platform for amateurs and semi-professionals to compete alongside each other. The record turnout at each event this year is testament to the success of the TriSeries in Qatar."

Participants of all ages took part in various events, ranging from the kids race designed for 8-12 year olds, with a 100m swim, 3km bike ride and a 1.5km run; up to the full-length race of 500m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run.

Mannai Corporation continued its support of the series through GMC, which has been the title sponsor of the event since its inception.

Ryan Christian finished first in the men's sprint distance race and Isora Caballero topped the field in corresponding woman's race. The kids races were won by Ethan Bennett (boys 8-12) and Ellie Walters (girls 8-12).

Junior Boys (13-17) was won by Farhan Farizi and Junior Girls by Aisling Mcmahon.
