UAE- Hotels look at new markets to fill Russian tourists gap


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Ramada Hotels has been participating in the Arabian Travel Market for the last couple of years.

Dubai: The decline in Russian tourist arrivals hit hoteliers in the UAE but Ramada Hotels in Ajman managed to explore new markets and witnessed 95 per cent occupancy during the first quarter of 2015.

“In spite of losing a big share of the Russian and CIS tourists our occupancy has been stable. We have searched for new markets and increased our strategies in terms of getting share from the online business” Iftikhar Hamdani (in pic right) cluster general manager Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman and Ramada Beach Hotel Ajman told Khaleej Times on the sidelines of a recent event in Dubai.

“We have started to source new markets and to date our main markets include Turkey Germany China Central Asia the GCC and India. We are optimistic about these new markets and we will continue to participate in road shows and exhibitions alongside the Ajman Tourism Development Department” Hamdani said.

The department has aggressive plans to add more markets by attending international travel fairs and by organising road shows he added.

Talking about the competition in the emirate he said: “This is fact that new openings in Ajman has created stiff competition among the hotels and will be challenging season this year. But it’s also good indication that tourism in the emirate is growing.”

“With regard to Ramada Ajman we are leading in the Northern Emirates in terms of occupancy and this trend continues this year too. Also we are confident on our products which provide great value for money” he added.

Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman targets both corporate and leisure segments and located at the centre of Ajman with easy access from the nearby emirates especially Sharjah and Dubai he said adding that the second property Ramada Beach Hotel Ajman is located at Ajman Corniche the only four-star beach property offers the same beach getaway experience at a reasonable cost.

Ramada Hotels has been participating in the Arabian Travel Market for the last couple of years. Talking about the importance of participating in the ATM he said: “It is a very good platform for us to introduce our summer packages for the travel agents particularly for the GCC market. We reinstate our relation with the existing clients and hunt for the new partners in this great show.”

He said the ATM is the biggest travel fair in the region and it is important because most of the neighbouring countries attend with full and strong involvement. It is also easy to find new partners from the GCC Middle East and the Subcontinent he added.
