Jordan's Interior minister resigns


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Jordanian Interior Minister, Hussein Majali, on Sunday, tendered his resignation to the prime minister over "security agencies' failure to coordinate between them over issues concerning citizens' security and stability."

Jordan News Agency (PETRA) quoted a statement by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said, "Stemming from the imperative need to enforce laws and regulations and uphold the rule of law on all and because of security bodies' - The Public Security and the Gendarmerie departmenta - failure to coordinate between them on issues concerning citizens' security and stability, and the failure to address these issues according to the required level, Interior Minister Hussein Majali resigned,"

The statement said a royal decree was issued accepting the resignation of the minister stemming from His Majesty's the King od Jordan's keenness on upholding the rule of law, ensuring security for all and exercising no tolerance with those tempted to tamper with the foundations upon which the Kingdom was based or attacking public and private property.

The prime minister said in the statement that the King ordered the government to "reconsider" the leaderships of both the Public Security and Gendarmerie departments in order to achieve the highest degree of security and stability.
