Kuwait- About 5,000 Bedoun Students Will Be Moved To Govt Schools

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Undersecretary of Ministry of Education Haitham Al-Athari was quoted as saying about 5,000 bedoun students will move from private schools to government schools, reports Al-Rai daily. He clarified the students who will benefit from this privilege are the children of members of the military corps. He said they will move to the government schools at the beginning of 2015/2016. He added the children of Kuwaiti wives married to non- Kuwaitis and children of bedoun working for the Ministry of Education and children of expatriate judges and doctors will be also allowed to move to government schools. Sources added a lion's share will be borne by the Ahmadi, Farwaniya and Jahra educational zones.

However, the educational zones have set a number of conditions to accept students such as a bedoun student must have a valid ID card issued by the Central System for Remedying the Situation of Bedoun and the student must have not failed for two consecutive years. Until now the situation of the children of retired employees from the police and army to move to government schools is not clear although the ministerial decision accepts them. However, some educational zones are putting obstacles in front of them.

The committee for receiving teachers recruited abroad for academic year 2015/2016 held its first meeting supervised by the Department of Public Services at the Ministry of Education to facilitate the recruitment procedures of some 418 Egyptian and 200 Jordanian teachers, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In coordination with concerned authorities, the ministry is making the necessary arrangements to facilitate the recruitment process of the teachers covering their medicals, fingerprint and civil information at the airport before they enter Kuwait.

Also, the committee is in touch with Kuwait Airways to schedule their flights as of August in coordination with the Kuwaiti cultural attachés in their respective countries.
