Qatar- 49 HMC employees complete training


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Engineering Department held its second employee training certification ceremony to honour 49 engineers and technicians who have completed courses.

Dhafi Al Marri, Assistant Executive Director, Engineering Department, said: "Through programmes conducted by the Training and Development Section of the Engineering Department, in collaboration with the Engineering Profession Awareness Programme, our department aims to develop a specialised technical team to lead engineering works at HMC."

The event was held at Bayt Al Dhiyafah Conference Centre in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City and attended by Naji Al Mannai, Executive Director for Development, HBKMC, and Robert Charles Smith, Executive Director, Engineering Department.

Michael Strachan, Assistant Executive Director, Engineering Department, Abdulla Khalaf Al Kubaisi, Head, Engineering Training and Development, Vincent R Cicchino, Deputy Chief of Facilities and Ammar Al Awad, General Manager, Environmental and Green Energy Services Company, were also present.

Strachan said the department had held courses for its 339 engineers and technicians and three specialised technical courses were attended by 53 employees. In addition, 38 hospitality training sessions in three languages were held for 741 staff.

Al Marri said the training programmes were in addition to the department's programme to encourage high school students to take up engineering profession through HMC scholarships.

"Members of our Engineering Department visit schools and encourage them to consider careers in the field," he said. "During visits, we hold engineering and technical training programmes to equip students with the right skills, outlining the potential for further study and certification." As part of its commitment to encouraging high school students to take up engineering professions, HMC has established partnership with Qatar Independent Technical School and developed a two-year professional training programme in addition to providing scholarships for students.
