(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Despite warnings from the White House that President Barack Obama would veto the bill, the US House of Representatives on Friday passed legislation to provide USD 612 billion to the Pentagon.
The defense bill was passed in a 269-151 vote.
USD 90 billion is included for Overseas Contingency Operations, or what is more commonly known as the Pentagon's war fund. But USD 38 billion of that amount is in excess of what the president had requested.
The legislation must go to the Senate next.
