UAE- iGuzzini brings University of Sharjah students to Rome for workshop


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A group of students from the Architectural Engineering Department has been invited to visit a selection of the most iconic iGuzzini projects in Rome as part of a cultural visit in Italy.

Dubai — iGuzzini in line with its commitment to education and the fostering of knowledge transfer which is deep rooted in the company’s DNA is proud to have organised a workshop in collaboration with the University of Sharjah.

As part of the project’s programme a group of students from the Architectural Engineering Department has been invited to visit a selection of the most iconic iGuzzini projects in Rome as part of a cultural visit in Italy.

The group which has been accompanied by the responsible of the company’s showroom in Rome as well as a representative from the iGuzzini HQ in Recanati Italy has had the chance to explore not only some archaeological and cultural masterpieces such as the Fori Romani which has been for centuries the centre of Roman public life; the Trinita’ dei Monti Church; and the Auditorium della Musica as well as some contemporary and cutting-edge projects such as the Class outlet in the central Via Nazionale.

During the visit the students not only had the opportunity to learn more on the Italian company which is with 22 European and non-European subsidiary companies and over 1200 employees a leading company in the production of high-end indoor and outdoor architectural luminaires for international markets but also to get a deeper understanding of the value of lighting and its diverse applications whilst coping with challenges and specific needs each projects presents.

The feedback from the participating students was impressively positive and according to the words of one of them Hassanain Hashim: “iGuzzini is a company that could have a huge impact on the future of lighting. I would just like to do more workshop like the one they did in order to spread awareness about lighting pollution and the latest technology regarding lighting systems. They could also approach governmental sectors and talk to them about their philosophy which would be a turning point in the UAE.”

Nisrin Abdou added: “some of the lighting systems shown to us really blew me away… the ones in the church were so innovative and seeing how they function made me take great interested in lighting.”

The visit has been arranged thanks to a synergic effort made by the iGuzzini HQ in Italy the company’s hub in the Middle East and Professor Emad S.N. Mushtaha the responsible teacher accompanying the students. The workshop’s programme will be also comprising a lecture which will be held in the University premises in Sharjah where Sergio Padula the Technical Director at iGuzzini Middle East will address key and thought-provoking topics such as the light pollution and the LED revolution which is dramatically affecting the lighting industry.

Sustainability in iGuzzini’s vision is not a limit but a reality and a challenge a confrontation from which innovation and progress are originated and the iGuzzini projects are a symbol of the attention and care is paid to the natural and human environment.
