India, China sign USD22b worth of deals


(MENAFN) Indian Prime Minister said his country is open for investments, as Indian firms and Chinese counterparts signed a USD22 billion worth of deals, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

China is India's biggest trading partner with bilateral trade totaling USD71 billion in 2014. But India's trade deficit with China has soared from just USD1 billion in 2001-02 to USD38 billion last year.

"Let us work together in mutual interest and for progress and prosperity of our great countries. Now India is ready for business," India's Prime Minister said at a business forum in China.

The nationalist leader was on the final day of a three-day trip to his fellow Asian giant, as the two jockeys for regional influence and India's trade deficit with China balloons.
