HH the Emir Concludes Participation in Camp David Summit


(MENAFN- QNA) HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with leaders and heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) delegation, concluded the summit with US President Barack Obama, held at Camp David retreat Thursday evening.

In a joint press statement issued by HH the Emir and Chairman of the GCC current session and the US president, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani thanked President Obama for the invitation, described the meetings held today as good and fruitful and referred to the transparency in the discussion of all issues related to the region. There are many issues agreed upon with the friends in the United States, HH the Emir said.

On the agreement which the US President spoke about regarding the 5+1 group and Iran, HH the Emir pointed out that the GCC welcomes the agreement, adding that the agreement would be a basic factor of stability in the region. HH the Emir noted that their talks covered matters related to the non-intervention in non-Arab countries in regional and Arab states' affairs.

HH the Emir also referred to the US president's acceptance of the invitation extended by GCC leaders to visit the Gulf region next year, explaining that from now until next year intensive meetings will be held. He said areas are wide for the developments of the close relations between the GCC states and the fields discussed during the meetings held yesterday and today.

Concluding, HH the Emir, on behalf of the GCC leaders, expressed condolences on the victims of the regrettable train accident , wishing the injured early recovery.(MORE) OM
