Palestinians hold rallies on eve of Nakba Day

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) On the eve of the 67th anniversary of the Nakba Day, when Israel was created on the rubble of Palestine, Palestinians organized rallies in several cities Thursday.

In Bethlehem, several local residents marched through the old city's street from the Church of Nativity carrying Palestine's flags and keys that symbolized the hope of return to the homeland, which they were forced to leave their homes in 1948.

In Gaza Strip, a number of Palestinian national powers and factions organized popular events ahead of the Friday's 67th anniversary, confirming that the Palestinian people are still clinging to their rights of returning to their occupied cities.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Higher National Committee prepared a number of small boats for children to sail towards the Israeli side on Friday, Mahmoud Zaher, the committee's member stated to KUNA, adding that the message behind this step is to remind the Israeli authority of the old Palestinian generation, who lived the Nakba Day events, through the young generation.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned today that his people would continue to internationalize the conflict if the new Israeli government went ahead with the same approach and policies of previous government, official media reported.

Speaking to the Palestinian people on the 67th anniversary of Nakba Day, Abbas reiterated that returning to the negotiation table with the Israelis requires halt of all settlement activities, release of Palestinian prisoners, and a time table to end the Israeli occupation, according to Palestinian TV.
