Sharjah grows 8.5 in 14 GDP crosses Dh80billion


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Sharjah attained a growth rate of 8.5 per cent in 2014 due to the affective cooperation between the government and private sector in Sharjah.

Sharjah — Sharjah’s gross domestic product (GDP) crossed Dh80 billion confirming the effectiveness of economic cooperation mechanisms said Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) during the Strategic Partners Forum.

Al Suwaidi cited the positive outcomes of cooperation between government entities. He called to intensify and promote such collaboration in order to attain the government of Sharjah’s objectives to attract more investors and diversify sources of income according to its strategies and future plans.

He also praised the private sector’s role in sustainable development economic growth finding opportunities to raise the emirate’s economic level and cooperating with governmentl entities to raise the quality of indicators.

Al Suwaidi said that the emirate of Sharjah attained a growth rate of 8.5 per cent in 2014 due to the affective cooperation between the government and private sector in Sharjah.

The chairman said: “SEDD wants to emphasise the importance of partnership between the government and private sector in the development process. We are honouring strategic partners to express our gratitude for their efforts and services they provide that keep in pace with society’s expectations and the Department’s strategic objectives.”

He called on all partners to cooperate with each other at the federal local and international levels. He asked the private sector to meet the Department’s objectives to serve people and society and to boost investment in Sharjah.

Some partners from the government and private sectors said such a Strategic Forum motivated them for further cooperation. They said that such a Forum is important because it gives them an opportunity to meet with partners and discuss ways of future cooperation.
