Dubai — Middle East digital transformation needs more agile IT systems for businesses to stay competitive top officials of Huawei said at a news conference in Dubai on Wednesday.

To better compete in today’s digital economy the global ICT solutions provider has connected with hundreds of business partners and industry analysts this week to examine the latest cloud-based ICT advancements across industries that are transforming the way that businesses operate.

The discussions took centrestage at this week’s Huawei Cloud Conference 2015 — the first event of its kind in the region — hosted under the slogan of ‘Make IT Simple Make Business Agile’.

During the conference Huawei outlined its own IT strategy to help Middle East businesses stay competitive in a digital economy. The strategy is a commitment to drive telecom providers and other businesses to transform their operations through a more agile generation of Business Enabling Systems (BES) offering more digitised experiences and services by cooperating with third parties.

Huawei also launched a series of IT technology innovations at the conference. including Huawei’s BES FusionSphere 5.0 and Oceanstor V3.

“Rapid developments in the digital world are redefining information technology and changing the way that organisations operate” says Shi Yaohong president of Huawei Middle East. “Nowadays Huawei is recognised by enterprises and telecom operators as a partner that develops innovative and differentiated IT solutions.”

“Through a cloud-centric IT strategy and a next-generation business support system Huawei has unveiled this week customers can wholly transform their traditional IT infrastructure improving business agility and creating greater value for their own customers and stakeholders” adds Yaohong.

In the current telecoms landscape traditional business operation support systems were designed and built to support telecom services like voice SMS and data traffic. The complexity of integrating network IT systems and infrastructure has long been a roadblock for communication service providers (CSPs).

Huawei’s new BES offers pre-integrated software modules business processes functional capabilities API management analytics technology reference architecture and delivery models to help CSPs explore operate and expand platform businesses across digital ecosystems. FusionSphere 5.0 an Open Stack based cloud platform offers converged computing storage and network resource pools delivering increased utilisation of infrastructure improved O&M efficiency and reduced IT costs.

FusionSphere 5.0 is the industry’s highest-performance and largest-capacity management system.

Based on a wealth of experience accumulated in the telecom field the system offers secure and reliable carrier-class cloud platforms. It is also designed with full compatibility with mainstream virtualisation platforms and hardware.

Huawei’s Oceanstor V3 is the industry’s first storage platform offering convergence of SAN & NAS SSD & HDD high-end mid-range & entry-level storage primary & backup systems as well as heterogeneous storage platforms.

The platform combines a cloud-oriented architecture with a powerful new hardware and intelligent management software.
