(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) As part of a high-profile visit here, visiting Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab met Wednesday with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius for talks on regional and international issues, as well as on a number of bilateral projects, an official statement said.
Mahlab also met on Tuesday with French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to review ongoing military cooperation and a number of defence contracts signed between the two nations, including the sale of a naval frigate, air-to-air missiles and most recently 24 Rafale multi-role combat aircraft.
Both men discussed the scheduling of deliveries of the contracts, with first deliveries expected this year, diplomatic sources said.
With Fabius, both men discussed cooperation on environmental questions in the run-up to a French-hosted international conference on "Climate Change" to be held here next December.
The Egyptian Premier is also holding talks with his host, Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who formally invited him to Paris. The two men are expected to ink a certain number of economic cooperation, infrastructure and investment contracts, including partial financing for the extension of the Cairo Subway and for the tramway system in the port city of Alexandria.
He also meets with a number of French businessmen from the MEDEF business organisation to explore increased cooperation.
Mahlab's trip here follows a visit to France by Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi last November and French participation in the Egyptian-organised economic conference in Sharm Al-Sheikh in March.
Both of these events "contributed to reinforcing bilateral relations," the French Foreign Ministry said.
