Sultan of Brunei visits Kuwait next Mon.

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah will make an official visit to Kuwait on May 18-19 upon an invitation from His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait's ambassador to Brunei Fahad Al-Thafiri announced on Wednesday.

"The visit seeks to boost bilateral relation in all fields," including the commercial, economic, political, and energy ones, said the ambassador to KUNA in a telephone call.

He further said that Brunei supported the candidacy of Kuwait to assume a seat on the UN Security Council for non-permanent members between the years 2018 and 2019.

As Brunei has embarked on applying the Sharia Law in the country in stages, the delegation accompanying the Sultan of Brunei will include the State Mufti of Brunei Haji Abdul-Aziz Juned, said the ambassador.

The Mufti will be able to become familiar with applying the Sharia Law in Kuwait by consulting with Kuwait's higher committee for implementation of Sharia Law, said the ambassador.

To cement Kuwaiti-Brunei relations, Kuwait's Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh and Bader Mohammad Al-Saad, who is Managing Director of Kuwait Investment Authority, will visit Brunei by the end of this year to conduct financial and investment talks with officials there, said the ambassador.
