EU condoles with Nepal over new quake victims
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides Wednesday spoke by phone with the Prime Minister of Nepal Sushil Koirala and expressed condolences to him after a second massive earthquake hit the country yesterday, claiming new lives and causing further destruction.
"The Prime Minister and I discussed further ways in which the EU could help his country in this difficult time. I asked him to facilitate the swift delivery of foreign assistance where it is most needed within Nepal," he said in a statement. The EU official noted that all resources of the European Commission for emergency response to this disaster have been mobilized.
Experts and rescue teams from EU Member States remain in the affected areas and are engaged in the ongoing rescue operations and assistance, he added.
