Wife of Sharjah ruler praises countries hosting Syrian refugees

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, praised efforts exerted by Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon to support Syrian refugees.

She said the three countries were shouldering the heaviest burden for the Syrian refugees in providing them with protection and meeting their basic needs.

Sheikha Al Qasimi made the remarks upon visiting the October 6 School in Egypt, which has many Syrian students; the Egyptian multicultural council Tadamon; and the UNHCR office in Cairo.

Four million Syrians have fled their country over the past four years due to ongoing violence, putting tremendous pressure on neighboring countries that are trying to provide basic aid to them," she added.

Sheikha Al Qasimi urged the Arab and international community to support these countries in serving the refugees and provide them with food, health care, education and shelter in addition to job opportunities until they return to Syria.
