Record Italy recession ends as economy grows 0.3 per cent

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Italy's record-length recession ended in the first quarter as its economy posted quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.3 per
cent, dpa cited official data as showing Wednesday.

The figure released by the national statistics office, Istat, was
slightly above expectations after analysts had predicted 0.2-per-cent
quarterly growth.

The eurozone's third-largest economy had experienced its worst slump
since World War II. Before Wednesday, it had not registered any
uptick in gross domestic product for 14 consecutive quarters.
