(MENAFN- QNA) Qatar Development Fund singed Wednesday a 10 millions US dollars agreement with the Palestinian Welfare Association on the sidelines on the 15th Doha Forum.
The agreement aims at providing sustainable holistic care for an estimated 2,108 children and young people who have lost their parents as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip last summer. The agreement was signed by HE Director-General of Qatar Development Fund Khalifa Jassim Al Kuwari and Chairman of the board of Trustees of the Welfare Association Faisal Alami.
Under the agreement, sustainable education services will be offered for the orphans of aggression on the Gaza Strip in 2014, including education supplies for kindergarten children, and students of schools, universities and technical institutes of fees, uniforms, books, stationery, and transportation, in addition to education after schools in order to raise the academic achievement level of the orphan students and building the capacity of university students through training courses to help them compete in the job market after graduation.
Moreover, accompanying activities will also be provided in a bid develop children's talents and creativity, in addition to health services that include medical examinations, treatment and prevention, and rehabilitation services for the disabled, and improvement of the nutritional status and health awareness, as well as psychological and social support services.
Vocational and career development for young orphaned youths and mothers, including vocational education and training will also be provided under the agreement in order to give young people practical and technical experience that help them get better jobs and set up small pilot income-generating projects.
The agreement will contribute to the development of the infrastructure of the institutions that provide various services for orphans, and to promote communication among these institutions in order to create a state of integration to upgrade the quality of services provided. The agreement will also provide protection for orphaned children from exploitation and abuse, and support them to obtain all of their rights in accordance with national and international conventions.
