Italy returns to growth, beats analysts' forecasts

(MENAFN- AFP) Italy edged its way out of recession with stronger than expected 0.3 percent growth in the first quarter of 2015, initial figures showed on Wednesday.

The data indicated the eurozone's third largest economy had finally rebooted its economy after nine months of recession and zero growth in the last quarter of 2014.

Economists had tabled on growth of between 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent.

The country's gross domestic product (GDP) figure remained unchanged, however, compared to the first quarter of 2014, the national institute of statistics said.
