Khneisser powers to victory in Qatar Baja Championship

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Lebanese rallying ace Emil Khneisser, driving Nissan Patrol, stormed to victory in the exhausting Qatar Baja Championship, and is currently leading the series with three rounds remaining.

Five rounds were held in succession last month and in the T2 field Khneisser piloted his mighty Nissan Patrol to top three finishes each of the five days, including two first placings.

Khneisser and the Patrol, known as the 'Hero of All Terrains in Life', picked up seven trophies for their sensational achievements. And in the final tally for the week Khneisser and the Patrol were out in front of the Qatar series. The Qatar National Baja is as demanding as any Baja event and is famous around the world for the toughness and is designed to make racing more accessible for those who have a passion for the desert. First five rounds in Qatar have been part of the Sealine Cross-Country Rally.

Khneisser said: "Baja events are as tough as they come but when you're in a Patrol you're in the right vehicle to take on the conditions while many others will fall by the wayside. The team came to Qatar totally focused on success and we're delighted with what we have achieved. The Patrol can cope with anything. But the job isn't done by any stretch € there are three rounds left.

"Qatar has a great tradition in off-road racing and has produced some wonderful drivers of international standing so it's very gratifying to win here."

Samir Cherfan, the managing director of Nissan Middle East, has hailed the Japanese auto maker's team's latest results.
