2000 Yemeni detainees to correct status
(MENAFN- Arab News) About 2000 Yemeni prisoners being held at police stations and deportation centers across the country would soon have their status corrected according to a report in a local publication on Tuesday.
The Yemeni nationals entered the Kingdom illegally and were arrested by law enforcement agencies during raids over the past few months. They will benefit from a royal decree issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman recently.
The Passport Department has confirmed that they would be released if Saudis are willing to become their sponsors. However they need to get travel documents from their embassy or consulate in the Kingdom. The Yemenis would be given six-month renewable visas and allowed to work if they apply through the Ajeer system. Brig. Gen. Suleiman Alsuhaibani director of the passport department in Riyadh said Yemeni expatriates or Saudi citizens would have the right to host five persons while establishments can take up to 10 percent of the total number of their employees.
