US urges Houthis to welcome ceasefire
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US urged the Houthis to welcome the ceasefire in Yemen that will take into effect at 11:00 p.m. local time in Yemen on Tuesday, noted State Department Deputy Acting Spokesperson Jeff Rathke to reporters.
"We view this Saudi initiative as well as signals from other parties that the cease-fire is viewed favorably, and it will be honored," said Rathke.
He added, "We understand that the Houthis have indicated that they are willing to accept the cease-fire. We're not in a position to definitively confirm that they have fully done so."
Rathke asserted that the US continues to "encourage the Houthis and their allies and all parties to work with the special envoy to return to that political dialogue."
