Qatari embassy seeks probe over assault on Indian expat

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Indian embassy has requested Qatari authorities "to undertake thorough investigations into an incident in which an Indian national was reportedly beaten up by some persons" at a shopping outlet in Doha last Friday.

"The embassy is concerned about the wellbeing of this person and has sought consular access to him," the mission said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The embassy was represented at a senior level during a meeting convened by a senior officer of Ministry of Interior, Government of Qatar on Sunday, with representatives of the large, diverse, accomplished and highly regarded Indian community in Qatar.

"During the highly friendly and useful discussions held at this meeting, all the attendees shared the view that any complaint/grievance should be brought to the attention of the authorities concerned and nobody should take any unlawful action," the embassy added.
