Qatari Katara Hospitality showcases portfolio


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Katara Hospitality has showcased its worldwide collection of hotels at this year's Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in addition to its standalone operating division Murwab Hotel Group for the first time.

The company, which recently crossed its target of 30 hotels by 2016 two years ahead of schedule, is focusing on adding 30 more properties to its portfolio by 2026.

Newly opened hotels showcased at ATM included The Peninsula Paris and Excelsior Hotel Gallia, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan. Besides, five recently acquired InterContinental hotels exhibited were InterContinental Carlton Cannes, InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam, InterContinental Madrid, InterContinental Frankfurt and InterContinental De La Ville Rome.

The recently established Murwab Hotel Group manages an international collection of boutique upscale hotels and brands across three main business areas, which were represented at ATM for the first time - Murwab Hotels, The Bürgenstock Selection and a collection of independent non-branded upscale properties.

With an existing portfolio of 11 hotels, showcased at ATM, Murwab Hotel Group is aiming to manage a total of 20 properties over the next five years, owned both by Katara Hospitality and other third-party owners, with expansion planned not only in Qatar but also the wider GCC and internationally.

This year, five new Doha hotels operated by the Murwab Hotel Group will open - Simaisma, a Murwab Resort; the Grand Murwab City Center; The Avenue, a Murwab Hotel; the Saraya Corniche Hotel and City Gate Hotel.

In Switzerland, The Bürgenstock Selection will oversee the operations of four new hotels currently under development. Hotel Royal Savoy of Lausanne, owned by Katara Hospitality, will officially reopen this summer. The Bürgenstock Hotel, Waldhotel and Palace Hotel € part of the overall Bürgenstock Resort development project - are being built. These new openings will further strengthen the group's presence in Switzerland, with the existing operation of Hotel Schweizerhof in Bern, the statement adds.

Katara Hospitality also received two accolades at the 2015 World Travel Awards in Dubai announced last week - Middle East's Leading Hospitality Development Company for the second year running and Middle East's Leading Tourism Development Project for the Katara Towers development in Marina District of Lusail City.
