Japanese Prime Minister Abe, Cameron agree on stronger ties


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his British counterpart David Cameron agreed by phone on Monday to further develop bilateral relationship between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry here said.

In their telephone conversation, Abe congratulated Cameron on his ruling Conservative Party's victory in the general election last Thursday, the ministry said in a press release.

He also expressed hope that the two leaders will continue working closely for further development of bilateral ties and jointly cope with various challenges facing the international community.

Cameron thanked Abe for offering his congratulations and showed his willingness to work together with Abe toward further strengthening of the Japan-UK relationship. The two leaders also agreed to frankly exchange views with other leaders on climate change and other global issues, as well as regional situations at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit in Germany next month.
