China welcomes ceasefire in Yemen

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) China on Monday welcomed the decision to establish a five-day ceasefire in Yemen, which will allow aid to be delivered, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

"China is deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in Yemen. We hope the decision will help ease the situation," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying was quoted as saying at a press conference in Beijing.

She urged all sides to earnestly implement the UN Security Council's resolution and the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, and settle disputes through political dialogue.

Saudi Arabia said the five-day ceasefire would begin tomorrow Tuesday and it was crucially important that the Houthis and their allies respected it.
