(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) UN special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad held talks with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gergash Monday on the developments in Yemen.
The two men discussed the political solution in Yemen which should be based on GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, outcome of national dialogue and relevant UN resolutions, namely 2216, official WAM news agency quoted an official statement as saying.
Ahmad and Gergash also discussed the UN role in preparing for a conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that will include Yemeni parties, it said.
Gergash reiterated the UAE's support to Ahmad's mandate to ultimately reach an inclusive political settlemtn in the conflict-ridden country.
The United Arab Emirates is attaching great importance to the relief missions in Yemen, he said who affirmed importance that Houthis and their allies respect the five-day ceasefire offer which would enter force tomorrow.
