Jordan, US sign USD25m grant

(MENAFN) The United States is set to supply Jordan with 100,000 tons of wheat through the signing of a grant, worth USD25 million, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said, The Jordan Times reported.

The grant comes under the umbrella of the Food for Progress Programme, which was undertaken by the government of the United States, according to the ministry.

"USDA's [the US Department of Agriculture's] food assistance will be used to relieve some of the economic burden that Jordan is facing as a result of the hundreds of thousands of Syrians who've been displaced because of the Syrian civil war." The Minister of Planning said.
