Kuwait- Info Official Vows To Tackle Grievances Of Workers

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Secretary General of the Information Ministry Labor Syndicate Mutlaq Al-Otaibi said the executive board of the syndicate held a meeting with the committee in charge of reviewing payment of employees' allowances, reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Otaibi revealed Undersecretary of the ministry Tareq Al-Mazram, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs Mohammad Al- Shammari and Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs Khalid Al-Ali attended the meeting.

He said the committee also looked into reasons behind the suspension of the payment of allowances. He added one of the reasons is the failure to allocate a budget for payment of the allowances, affirming the officials promised to quickly solve the problem. He stressed the officials assured that the allowances will be paid to all deserving employees in accordance with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) regulations.

Meanwhile, some Ministry of Information employees tweeted with the hash tag 'Ministry of Information Strike' on social media to invite their colleagues for a sit-in in front of the ministry building on Monday.

They stressed the need to make the concerned officials accountable for stopping payment of their allowances including shift and food allowances, and demanded for retroactive payment starting from 2014.

However, Chairperson of the syndicate Yasin Al-Farsi said he was not informed about the intention to organize the sit-in. He asserted he does not believe that the issue has reached the stage of organizing a sit-in, reiterating a meeting with the assistant undersecretaries resulted in a mechanism for payment of the allowances
