(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The U.S. unemployment rate in April fell to 5.4 percent from 5.5 percent in March, the lowest level since May 2008, the Labor Department reported on Friday.

U.S. employers added 223,000 jobs last month, which economists said indicates the economy may be recovering after a slow start in 2015.

However, the latest monthly jobless report revised March job gains downward to 85,000 from 126,000. U.S. construction firms added jobs last month as oil and gas drillers laid off workers for the fourth straight month, the report said.
