UAE- Sheikh Mansour approves Al Gaffal race committee


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club, DIMC, has approved the formation of an organising committee for the 25th long-distance Al Gaffal race for the category of 60-foot local sailing ships, held annually under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

The race, which kicks off on Saturday, May 23rd, from Sir Bu Nuair Island towards the first finish line off Dubai's shores through to the final line at Moon Island, is expected to witness the participation of more than 100 ships crewed by more than 2,000 sailors, reminding us of the past and renewing the memories of the nation's forefathers.

The Supreme Organising Committee, chaired by Saeed Mohamed Hareb, Vice President and Chairman of the Board at DIMC and Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, includes Dr. Khalid Mohammed Zahid Vice President of DIMC, Board Member of Dubai Sports Council as Vice-President of the Committee and Head of Information team, and Essa Khalfan bin Kharbash, Board member of DIMC as Head of Support and Operations team, in addition to the members of the sports committee of DIMC.
