Lebanese Info. Min. urges shunning stances impacting compatriots in Gulf states

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency) Lebanese Information Minister Ramzi Jreij called Sunday for avoiding stances or actions that could negatively impact Lebanese communities in Gulf countries.

In a statement to reporters before heading to Doha to partake in the 15th Doha Forum, Jreij explained that the large Lebanese communities in Gulf states are greatly contributing to the national economy through their remittances.

He also thanked Gulf authorities for caring for the Lebanese living and working in their countries.

According to figures collected by the Lebanese Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal economic magazine and Byblos Bank, the remittances of Lebanese expats in Gulf states make up 60 percent of the remittances of Lebanese expats around the world, estimated at USD eight billion annually.
