Kuwait- Fresh Police Graduate Working In GTD Arrested For Robbing Asians


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Security operatives arrested a fresh police graduate working in the General Traffic Department for abuse of authority and blackmail, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the traffic officer used to mount checkpoints to arrest expatriates, mostly Bangladeshis, and forced them to get in his car and threatened to deport them.

The source added the traffic officer would send some Bangladeshis to those he arrests and compel them to pay KD 500 for their release and then share the proceeds € 40 percent for his aides and keep 60 percent to himself.

The source pointed out that one of the victims lodged a complaint accusing the officer of kidnapping and robbery. He provided the police with the number plate of the suspect's vehicle. Acting on the complaint and information provided by the complainant, the police managed to identify the traffic officer through a car he rented.

They arrested him in the company of his Bangladeshi accomplices who admitted the act. They were referred to concerned authorities. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti man escaped certain death by providence after crashing into a water tanker in Salmi area, reports Al- Anba daily.

The citizen was traveling in a jeep when he lost control of his vehicle, swerving and crashed into a water tanker parked on the road. He was referred to a hospital for medical care. Later, the police found KD 3,000 and 5,000 Saudi riyals inside the victim's car, and handed the money to the family.
