LuLu's British food festival begins in Riyadh

(MENAFN- Arab News) British Ambassador Simon Collis on Saturday called for more efforts to boost commercial links between Saudi Arabia and the UK.
The British government is committed to help businesses increase their exports and make the UK more competitive for overseas companies who want to invest in the UK he told reporters after cutting the ribbon to mark the opening of a UK food festival at the LuLu Hypermarket here.
In fact the Lulu festival dubbed as Food is Great Britain has been organized at all LuLu outlets across Saudi Arabia. The festival is featuring more than 5000 British products including foods and snacks under one roof.
The opening ceremony of the week-long event was attended by several British embassy officials top LuLu executives and industry leaders. Prominent among them were Shehim Mohammed Unni LuLu's regional director and Adrian Crampton retail operations manager.
Referring to the progressively growing Saudi-UK commercial ties and LuLu's investment in Britain the envoy said: 'The partnership between the two countries is strong and growing." This is evident from this LuLu festival in which everyone will find something new of his/her choice.'
He welcomed LuLu's initiative to set up its British subsidiary in Birmingham called "Y" International UK Ltd. which is currently engaged in distributing British-branded food to LuLu locations around the Middle East. In fact Britain remains one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent trading partners with British exports to the Kingdom totaling about $6.6 billion annually.
All Lulu stores on this occasion have been decorated with huge and colorful replicas of the famous landmarks and icons associated with Britain. The festival offers shoppers a chance to win free tickets to the UK through a raffle draw at the end of the festival.
