51 Militants Killed in Afghan Military Operations
(MENAFN- QNA) 51 militants have been killed in fresh military operations in Afghanistan, the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced Sunday.
A statement issued by the ministry this morning states that the militants were killed in joined operations by Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and personnel from the National Directorate of Security in past 24 hours, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).
MoI statement adds that the operations were conducted in Baghlan, Kunduz, Faryab, Badakhshan, Sar-e-Pul, Jowzjan, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Logar, Ghazni, Paktiya, Herat, Badghis, Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in which 15 insurgents were also arrested and one arrested.
The statement further adds that 23 different types of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were defused by the security forces in Uruzgan, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika and Kandahar provinces.
After taking full responsibility of the security from NATO forces in January this year, Afghan National Security Forces launched several large scale independent operations across the country which still continues.
