(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has said that 197510 Omanis employed in the private sector are registered with Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI).
Based on the 2014 data the number of Omani men and women working in the private sector and registered with PASI reached 152959 and 44551 respectively. The statistics also showed that 11 other Omanis were employed in Saudi Arabia.
According to the data there are 211 trade unions registered in the sultanate while 626 labour disputes were settled in 2014.
The data showed that 13193 Omanis and 3733 expatriates were employed in the oil and gas sector.
As for expatriate workers 81 per cent were employed in the private sector four per cent in the public sector and the rest in the family sector.
From an educational perspective ten per cent of the expatriate workers had university education 62 per cent of them had pre-university qualifications while the rest were without any educational qualifications.
