Dubai's wellness tourism to grow 9 percent by 2017


(MENAFN) Wellness tourism is projected to grow by more than 9 percent per year through 2017, nearly 50 percent faster than overall global tourism, Gulf News reported.

Wellness tourism represents 6 percent of all domestic and international trips and 14 percent of all domestic and international tourism expenditure.

According to Global Spa and wellness Economy Monitor, the size of global wellness economy was estimated at USD3.4 trillion in 2013.

"Ageing populations, unhealthy lifestyle and the stress associated with modern lifestyle are all trends driving the emergency of a wellness industry," Director of Wellness Tourism said.
