EU gives 100 mn euro loan to Tunisia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The European Commission announced Thursday on behalf of the European Union, the payment of a loan of 100 million euros for Tunisia.

This is the payment of the first tranche of macro-financial assistance program of 300 million euros to Tunisia, approved by the EU in May 2014.

Pierre Moscovici, EU Commissioner for economic and financial affairs, noted in a statement that a week after the signing of financing agreements between Tunisia and the European Commission under the neighborhood policy, "this payment represents a new concrete example of the support the EU provides to Tunisia in its political transition and the implementation of its reform agenda." Moreover, EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn launched five programmes to the amount of 63 million euro during his recent visit to Tunisia on 29 and 30 April. (
